Acne-Cleanser

Proper use of acne cleansers ...

Acne cleansers are designed to gently clean by removing accumulated oil, makeup, sweat and dirt from the surface of your skin. Some cleansers that are designed for acne-prone skin may also contain medical ingredients such as salicylic acid (a mild acid that removes dead skin cells) or benzoyl peroxide (kills the bacteria that cause acne). Cleansers make it easier for your skin to absorb topical acne treatments, but make sure you're not applying too many layers of medication by using active ingredients in the cleanser and then applying a medicine on top.
Excessive use of acne products can lead to further irritation and drier skin. Limit the use of acne cleansers to twice a day and select a non-comedogenic moisturizer to finish off after washing. The prevalence of acne in your 30's and beyond may require more specialized skin care products. Look for one-step moisturizers that contain a combination of salicylic acid to address the blemishes of mature acne, as well as a mixture of nourishing ingredients to combat the signs of aging.

Do you have mild acne? ...

You may want to seek out acne cleansers containing salicyclic acid, which is effective in breaking down keratin in blackheads and removing dead skin cells, helping to prevent clogged pores.

What is Tea Tree Oil? ...

Tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves of a tree called Melaleuca alternifolia that is indigenous to Australia. Aborigines chewed the leaves of the tea tree to alleviate symptoms associated with infections, colds and general ailments. Today, the oil is considered to be a potent antiseptic that also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Tea tree oil can also be used for treating acne, bug bites, boils and minor wounds. Because of tea tree oil's varied benefits, it's a popular ingredient in cosmetic formulations and can be found in shampoos, soaps, creams and skin cleansers. Keep in mind that many of these skin care products contain such low concentrations that their intended antibacterial effect is either diminished or non-existent.
